Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities
- Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of
Facilities or Manager of Maintenance, performs repairs and
installations in the hospital, including the procurement of
necessary permits on new installations and renovations.
- Performs all preventive maintenance (PM's) corrective and
emergency repairs on assigned equipment & systems as required.
- Install, maintain and service hospital systems; including but
not limited to fire alarm systems, audio, data, video/cameras,
control wiring, access control, security systems and nurse call
system.
- Performs duties on Life Safety Systems to include; Fire Alarm,
Fire Pump, Sprinklers and other components as identified.
- Performs all duties in accordance with all laws, rules and
regulations as set forth by appropriate regulatory and government
agencies in accordance with established department and hospital
policies and procedures.
- Required to work off shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as
scheduled and assigned.
- Performs similar or related duties as may be necessary on an
emergency, temporary or limited basis as assigned. Subject to on
call.
- Assists with annual regulatory submissions; The Joint
Commission, National Fire Protection Association, Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services, local Plymouth Fire Department, and
others as determined.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of equipment and materials by
contacting vendors for competitive pricing and availability.
- Inspect the work of outside contractors to ensure compliance
with regulations.
- Determine acceptable quality of materials and/or
equipment.
- Needs to have working knowledge of other trades; HVAC, boilers,
plumbing, carpentry, electrical and maintenance mechanic.
- Performs one or more trades to include related maintenance of
high and low pressure boiler systems.
- Acts as an Emergency Preparedness First Responder, as
trained
- Conducts daily monitoring Rounds as required
- Conducts system shutdowns and re-starts as
required/assigned
- Responds to calls for service in a timely manner
- Intervenes on the patient's behalf as appropriate
- Documents all activities according to healthcare organizational
policy
- Participates in department based management performance
improvement activities
- Participates in product evaluations
- Interacts with Maintenance team on a daily basis
- Completes corrective work orders on an assigned and routine
basis.
- Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge in problem
identification and solving activities

- At least 5+ years of experience in a similar role
- Working knowledge of Nurse Call & Fire Alarm systems
- Working knowledge of Pipe Bending
- Able to work with Computerized Building Automation Control
Systems

- Working knowledge of Control wiring, Camera and Access control
systems
- Working knowledge of Joint Commission standards
- Working knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulatory
agencies having jurisdiction
- High School Diploma or equivalentRegistration/Certification
- Class D Electrical License
- OSHA 10 certified preferred
- NFPA Certified Life Safety Specialist
- Able to obtain Massachusetts Special to Operate Engineering
License (Steam Plant) within 6 months of hire.

Schedule: Full time, Day shift, 40 hr/wk; with weekend and holiday
rotation
