Systems Engineer. Avwatch, Inc. Plymouth, MA Role Description &
Responsibilities : Design, develop and test products under the
guidance of senior level Avwatch staff. Interface with purchasing
and suppliers to ensure optimized component sourcing. Document the
design and development of Avwatch products. Specific focus on
software and electrical components. Debug new designs and develop
reliability improvements for existing designs. Work with Avwatch's
manufacturer to ensure deadlines are met and to communicate design
changes. Travel to customer locations to set up, install, and test
both customer and Avwatch products. Design custom electrical and
software solutions to meet each customer's specific needs.
Construct Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) as required (training
provided) for customers. Testing of new RF equipment and antennas,
which may include flight testing in general aviation aircraft.
Troubleshoot, maintain, repair and/or fabricate networking
equipment. Will work extended hours as needed. Travel required,
locally and remotely: 25-50% of the time, travel expenses covered
by Avwatch. Some lifting required, up to 75 lbs. Minimum
Education/Certifications : Bachelor's degree (preferred) in
electrical engineering, systems engineering or computer science or
Enrolled in and completed at least 2 years of an electrical
engineering, systems engineering or computer science degree Skills
& Qualifications: Must already have or qualify for DoD Secret
Clearance. Previous experience writing and editing code in with
Python. Ability to use standard tools and shop equipment. Knowledge
of both AC and DC power systems. Basic computer skills and
Microsoft applications experience required. Ability to work in fast
paced, high stress environments. Ability to work both with minimal
supervision and in a team. Strong math and analytical skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preferred
Skills/Experience : Prior internship experience preferably in the
RF or Aerospace fields. Experience with IP based hardware.
Experience designing, manufacturing, and documenting MIL-STD cables
and wiring assemblies. Experience with administering ISO 9001.
Experience using a 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks. Mobile
Ad hoc Networking (MANET) experience. Competencies for Success :
