To learn about Brown University's benefits, visit the University Human Resources web page here for further information.About the Opportunity:Brown University's School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on the development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown's intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of residential and online programs, including professional and early career master's programs, executive education, and professional certificate programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master's students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.
Responsibilities:Reporting to the Provost, the Dean of the School of Professional Studies (SPS) is a senior level officer who is responsible for strategic planning and high-level management of the school's academic programs and operations. The dean provides executive oversight of the school's programs, students, staff and finances, and works with academic leaders to develop new strategic areas for growth for the school. The dean will play a critically important role in liaising with academic departments, schools and other units on campus to ensure academic excellence and financial sustainability for SPS.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provide oversight for the successful management of a diverse portfolio of professional master's programs (both full-time and part-time). This will include successful partnership with academic departments to ensure academic excellence for these programs;
• Have continuous awareness of opportunities to develop new academic programming, enhance Brown's brand awareness and develop new revenue streams;
• Develop opportunities for Brown alumni and corporate audiences;
• Create programs that test new markets and methodologies, engaging in entrepreneurial academic activities across Brown's curriculum and in support of faculty interests and market demand;
• Collaborate with other campus divisions and academic departments to support efforts in program development and teaching;
• Engage in fundraising through campaign activities and grant writing efforts.
• Serve as a member of the President's Cabinet and other leadership committees.
• Serve on university committees exploring innovation and/or addressing institutional challenges as requested
• Ensure that the mission of SPS is aligned with and in support of the University's mission and strategic priorities.
  Qualifications:
  • Doctorate or other advanced degree is required
  • 10+ years relevant experience including significant administrative experience as a leader in higher education or related field
  • Significant management, financial and innovative project development experience
  • Leadership skill, vision and ability to keep multiple priorities in focus and progressing
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Deep understanding of current practices in professional education
