844 SUMMARY: Qorvo Biotechnologies is developing diagnostic
point-of-care (POC) platforms with the goal of increasing the speed
and accuracy of medical testing, moving healthcare closer to the
patient. Qorvo combines expertise in acoustic filter technology
with microfluidics and medical test system integration to POC
solutions for the medical diagnostics market. Qorvo Biotechnologies
is part of Qorvo's Infrastructure and Defense Products (IDP)
business, which manufactures and markets high performance RF and
mixed-signal integrated circuits for communications markets that
connect, protect and power the world. Senior mechanical engineer is
initially responsible for all aspects of manufacturing transfer of
Qorvo's POC cartridge to 3rdparty high volume manufacturing. The
position will evolve into next generation cartridge design from
development through manufacturing transfer in coordination with
other engineers. Will work closely with Operations, Quality,
laboratory scientists, sourcing, quality and manufacturing
engineers to meet cartridge performance specifications and key
performance metrics as well as create platform technologies and
competitive products for point of care markets. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee manufacturing transfer from prototype assembly line to 3rd
party high volume assembly line as well as expand relationships
with high volume manufacturing of components, subassemblies and
complete fluidic cartridge. Apply specific knowledge of current
commonly used diagnostic and microfluidic device manufacturing
processes and techniques, as well as familiarity with related
manufacturing equipment vendors and provide design for
manufacturability (DFM) expertise to internal team and external
partners. Setup, plan and execute experimental evaluations to
characterize subassemblies to improve yields, cost, CAPEX and tak
time. Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations for
microfluidic manufacturing process and equipment deviations. Drive
continuous improvement efforts for cartridge key performance
indexes. Develop and validate robust protocols for manufacturing
and cost reduction of microfluidic devices working extensively with
process engineering. Design, develop and execute complex tests
(including fluid handling, electro-mechanical, and RF components),
based on theoretical analysis, modeling, and literature review.
Utilize DOE and other analysis techniques. Collaborates
cross-functionally with Biology, Operations, Sourcing and other
functions to a deliver point-of-care, sample-to-answer disposable
cartridge that meets all key performance needs in steady state
production. Strong track record in microfluidic circuit/flow cell
design and high volume manufacturing. Lead the development of
fluidic modules that integrate microfluidics, flow control,
chemistry, heat transfer with Qorvo BAW biosensors. Coordinates
with Technical Leads and Project Management to prioritize
activities and manage schedules to drive projects to successful
on-time completion of verification and manufacturing transfer.
Ensures compliance with quality and regulatory requirements by
applying design control processes such as risk management,
configuration management, requirements management and verification
testing. Skills: Ability to analyze and interpret experimental
result to support design decisions. Works independently and
collaborate with key stakeholders across disciplines. Experience
with microfluidic devices for immuno-diagnostic and molecular
diagnostic applications is required. Experience with Computational
Fluid Dynamics (CFD) such as COMSOL is a plus Experience with
statistical software packages (JMP, minitab, etc...) is a plus
Proficient in Mechanical Design using a CAD system. SolidWorks a
plus. Working knowledge of ISO13485 and CFR 820 a plus
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical
Engineering, Physics or similar. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 8+ years of mechanical / manufacturing engineering
experience in high volume fluidics design and manufacturing .
Certifications/Licenses: SolidWorks certification preferred.
Travel:Willingness to work on-site at other manufacturing
facilities, both domestic and international, for extended periods.
Physical Requirements: Constant hearing, talking and near vision.
Frequent sitting (40%) andstanding (moving about) (60%). Good
hand/eye coordination, handling of small parts, and reaching.
Occasionally lifts and carries up to 35pounds. Mental/Motor
Requirements: Constant reading, writing, tact, problem solving,
verbalcommunication and independent decision-making. Frequent
written communication. Environmental Requirements: Frequently works
with others in office, engineering and manufacturing environments.
Occasionally exposed to loud noises and lab chemicals. Other:
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects. Ability to
reprioritize project duties and tasks based on department and
business need. Excellent communication skills with
strongtroubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Willingness to
