Massachusetts Gaming Commission ("MGC") seeks a Gaming Technical
Compliance Engineer, reporting to the Gaming Technical Compliance
Manager. This position is responsible for reviewing, testing, and
evaluating electronic gaming devices (EGDs), ancillary equipment,
sports wagering systems and equipment, assessment of modifications
to EGDs, sports wagering devices, player tracking systems, slot
monitoring, and accounting systems to ensure interoperability. In
addition, the incumbent is responsible for providing technical
support to other MGC divisions, the Network Operations Center
(NOC), and regulatory compliance with MGC licensees. The role
requires implementing and conducting test plans to ensure the
gaming and sports wagering technology complies with MGC regulations
and technical standards. The incumbent will cooperate with the
Gaming Technical Compliance Unit to identify and implement Gaming
and Sports Wagering IT best practices and compliance. Duties and
responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversee the viability and reliability of gaming devices and sports
wagering equipment during field operations and public use. Create,
execute, and explain test cases, both manual and automated plans.
Perform in-depth analysis and testing of gaming devices and
associated equipment to ensure proper functionality,
interoperability, and compliance with MGC's technical regulations.
Initiate, coordinate, and enforce MGC policies, procedures, systems
operations, and requirements. Act as regulatory gaming and sports
wagering compliance representative for the MGC, working closely
with the certified independent test labs, licensed gaming
manufacturers, and casinos. Create software revocation
notifications for all licensed manufacturers as necessary.
Maintain, produce and create new and existing monthly, quarterly,
and yearly reports. Review and approve submissions according to the
change management processes. Seek opportunities to resolve
problems, achieve goals, or otherwise advance the mission of the
MGC. Perform tests in the Gaming Compliance Lab to verify the
accuracy of slot machine communication and interoperability with
the MGC;s central monitoring system. Perform tests to analyze the
accuracy of slot monitoring and sports wagering systems and
subsequent modifications and upgrades. Investigate alleged cheating
incidents involving electronic gaming devices or ancillary
equipment. Investigate player disputes involving suspected gaming
devices and sports wagering equipment malfunctions or failures and
furnish forensic reports as requested. Assist in the Investigations
and Enforcement Bureau as needed in the seizure and testing of
electronic gaming devices and sports wagering equipment suspected
of use in illegal activities. Required to travel to various sites
as needed or requested. Other duties as assigned. Required
Experience, Education, and Training: Bachelor's degree from an
accredited college or university in Computer Engineering, Software
Engineering, or Computer Science with at least three-years of
relevant work experiences, of which at least two-years must have
been directly related to the duties/responsibilities as outlined or
High School diploma or GED with at least six-years of full-time or
equivalent part-time professional relevant experience and training
required of which at least four-years must have been directly
related to the duties and responsibilities Outlined Experience
working with EGDs, sports wagering and associated equipment, or EGD
and ports wagering management systems. Experience with SQL and
Database Management tools, Experience with Windows, Linux, and
server-based applications. Experience with developing, performing
or analyzing test plans. Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in Jira, 0365 applications. Ability to work in a
non-smoking casino gaming environment, including but not limited to
constant flashing lights, constant noise, and crowded areas. Must
be able to work a flexible schedule according to business needs,
including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Knowledge of IT
industry standards, change management processes, and use of
enterprise standards change control procedures. Ability to work
collaboratively with internal and external groups in a team
environment to improve overall customer service and support.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with internal and external customers. Ability to work
independently, prioritize existing projects, and proactively
determine areas requiring additional attention, monitoring, or
maintenance. Proven background in providing excellent customer
service. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; thinks and
act quickly to solve issues. Excellent verbal and written
communication skills. Must be able to explain technology to
nontechnical management and others. Great people skills are a must.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies and
practices. Ability to understand the laws, rules regulations
policies, procedures, standards and guidelines governing all MGC
activities. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and push 65 lbs.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications: Experience working with
"Team-Based Practices", e.g., Agile, Kanban, etc. Ability to work
on multiple concurrent projects. Ability to follow Standard change
management processes. Document and evaluate the impact of required
changes to the various networked systems. Plan, schedule, and
communicate changes to be implemented. Ability to understand and
follow complex oral and written instructions. Experience utilizing
tools and research abilities to resolve technical issues. Our

The MGC offers a hybrid work environment and requires staff to work
at least two days in the Boston Office. Based on business needs,
additional in-office days may be required. Salary is commensurate
with experience. The successful candidate must pass an extensive
background check conducted by the Massachusetts State Police. It
includes a full credit check, CORI (Criminal Offender Record
Information), fingerprinting, drug test, reference checks, review
of IRS Income Tax Transcripts for the last four years, and a
Certificate of Good Standing from the Massachusetts Dept. of
Revenue (DOR). The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is responsible
for the implementation of the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of
the Acts of 2011) and regulatory oversight of G.L. chapter 23K
(casino gaming), chapter 23N (sports wagering), and chapter 128A
(horse racing). Under these laws, the Commission is tasked with
establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation,
licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino
licenses and one slots parlor only license, the provision of
in-person and digital sports wagering, and the live and
simulcasting of horse racing in Massachusetts. It is the policy of
