Job Description:
Position Summary/Department Summary: We are currently seeking a
40-hour Physical Therapist III for our Outpatient Boston location.
Be a part of our inter-disciplinary team and provide high-quality,
rehabilitation for our pediatric patients. Our PTs help patients —
from newborns to young adults — gain movement, strength,
coordination, balance, and function. Key Responsibilities: -
Demonstrates expert level of clinical reasoning with physical
therapy services provided within assigned service/specialty area,
including care of patients with complex, rare and/or multiple
dysfunctions. - Performs diagnostic evaluations upon referral and
in accordance with departmental and professional guidelines and
standards while synthesizing and interpreting multiple or
conflicting sources of data. - Uses innovative strategies to
develop, implement, evaluate and modify individual treatment
programs, discharge plans and home programs. Provides instruction
to patients/families and communicates with providers regarding
patient status and treatment recommendations. - Utilizes advanced
clinical reasoning skills for selection/fabrication of orthotics,
adaptive/assistive equipment and technology for patients, including
those with complex, rare or multiple dysfunctions. Uses clinical
inquiry in order to meet specific treatment objectives. -
Communicates with equipment designers and/or vendors regarding
equipment specifications and patient needs. Trains patients,
families and/or caretakers in use/operation of prescribed
orthotics/equipment, monitors and evaluates effectiveness and
initiates modifications as needed. - Records assessments, diagnoses
and treatment in patient medical record according to established
documentation standards. Prepares reports, correspondence and other
materials for schools, providers, insurance carriers and others as
needed. Assigns standardized billing codes and corresponding
charges required for reimbursement. - Plans, organizes and oversees
daily clinical operations of designated area of responsibility.
Prepares, monitors and adjusts patient and staff schedules.
Prioritizes, delegates and follows up on work assignments in order
to meet patient care and service coverage requirements. -
Recognizes service opportunities to promote best practice. Self
identifies, develops and maintains clinical expertise, professional
knowledge and skills through participation and leadership in
professional organizations, attendance at conferences and
continuing education programs and other related activities. -
Integrates professional development into clinical practice and
departmental activities. - Leads and/or participates in patient
care rounds, team meetings and departmental or hospital based
interdisciplinary committees. Organizes and leads case conferences
and multidisciplinary meetings to plan patient care and facilitate
integration and coordination of services. - Represents department
on committees and at meetings within the hospital and with external
providers, insurers and community agencies Provides leadership and
supervision to Physical Therapy staff within area of
responsibility. - Assists in selection of new personnel, provides
orientation and plans and oversees provision of in-service and
staff development programs. Monitors and evaluates work
performance, providing guidance and feedback and recommends
disciplinary and other personnel actions as warranted. Assists in
development of annual goals and objectives. Prepares and
participates in conducting annual performance evaluations. Serves
as a mentor and leader, providing guidance. Minimum Qualifications
Education: - Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy Experience: -
Minimum of five years of previous PT experience ideal, pediatric
hospital-based experience preferred. Licensure/Certifications: -
Physical Therapist licensure in the state of MA Schedule is M-F New

is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this
pay at the time of posting. Any base pay offer provided depends on
skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of
