your knowledge and expertise! Job Summary and Qualifications Under
the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer, the CWOCN, utilizing
current knowledge and research, serves as a consultant, clinical
resource and educator across the continuum of care in the area of
wound, ostomy and continence care. He/she works collaboratively
with all members of the health care team, the patient and/or
family/significant other to achieve the expected outcome. Essential
Functions: - Functions as a resource for system-wide quality
improvement efforts in wound/ostomy/continence care - Provides
clinical consultation and education for patients with
wound/ostomy/continence concerns - Consults with patient, nursing
staff, physicians and other team members to facilitate the delivery
of comprehensive wound/ostomy/continence care - Provides education
as requested for patients undergoing Ostomy surgery, specifically
including the preoperative, perioperative and postoperative
periods, utilizing consideration of the need for physical and
psychological adaptation - When possible, determines the
appropriate preoperative site for stoma placement utilizing best
practice techniques - Provides recommendations for patient, family
and staff regarding instruction, referrals and supply needs -
Serves as a resource for Ostomy patients via telephone conversation
or outpatient service - Provides education, recommendations and
inpatient follow-up care regarding all aspects of wound care,
including assessment, documentation, treatment, prevention,
referral and further consultant needs - Provides evaluation and
assistance with topical treatment choices, including Negative
Pressure Wound Therapy - Provides consultation and guidance to
staff on issues related to altered skin integrity - Recommends
standards for selection of cost effective supplies for the care of
the wound, ostomy and continence patient - Collaborates with
Director to develop and present educational programs - Attendance,
works as scheduled Qualifications: - BSN required, MSN preferred -
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire -
Certification in Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing, or equivalent,
required - BCLS required Experience: - 2-4 years relevant nursing
