DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Float Pool provides Milieu Counselors as needed to Cahill 4,
Cahill 3 and 7 West. These departments see various types of
psychiatric illnesses such as Schizophrenia bi-polar and affective
disorders, Personality disorders, Duel Diagnosis, Adjustment
disorder, Psychosis, and use DBT/CBT Group Therapy. According to
DMH we have a lower than average restraint rate, use a sensory
approach to de-escalating patients, and all staff are educated in
trauma-informed care which provides each patient with
individualized care.The role of a Psych RN is to provide quality
patient care according to Cambridge Health Alliance standards of
nursing practice and the role expectations of the patient care
unit, including administration of medications and treatments. RN
must demonstrate ability to respond to medical and psychiatric
emergencies in a prompt, precise and professional manner and be
able to work in collaboration with nurse manager to provide
comprehensive, cost effective care and to support a problem solving
approach to issues. Assess, plan, document and evaluate patient
care in an adult locked psychiatric unit. Participates in quality
improvement projects. Administers medications and treatments as
needed. Acts as a resource for nursing issues and keeps abreast of
all aspects of assigned patient care. Contributes to
multidisciplinary treatment planning by bringing a nursing focus to
team collaboration and contributing to multidisciplinary treatment
planning. Communicates effectively with health team members.
Interacts effectively with patients, families and significant
others. Reports directly to Nurse Manager and will be assigned
according to the needs of the unit.
Qualifications/Experience:Current MA RN Licensure required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred
Current American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers BLS
certification required
1 year previous mental health experience in a locked unit strongly
required
Newly hired candidates are required to successfully complete a job
specific physical agility exam.
$10k Sign-On Bonus (pro-rated for part time employees) for newly
hired experienced RNs with 2 years of experience in the specialty
hired for.
Newly hired experienced RNs interested in committing to a minimum
of two years of employment at Cambridge Health Alliance, may be
eligible to receive a retention bonus of $10,000. Part-time
employees may be eligible for a prorated retention bonus. Please
