Job Description:

Since 1955, our client has been a trusted expert partner for their customer's vacuum metalizing and painting needs. Their commitment to quality, service, and innovation have made them an established name among the industry leaders they serve. They are currently looking to add a Director of Maintenance & Engineering to their team. Salary/Hourly Rate: $120k Position Overview: The Director of Maintenance & Engineering will lead the engineering, maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts. You will be responsible for identifying, implementing, measuring, and achieving measurable improvements with the preventive maintenance system, equipment uptime, TPM, spare parts inventory control, and continuous improvement efforts. This role is onsite during the 1st shift from 7 am - 4:30 pm. Responsibilities of the Director of Maintenance & Engineering:

  • Oversee safety including the member of the safety committee, lock out/tag out, fork lift and man lift logs, OSHA logs, etc.
  • Oversee and maintain the on schedule
  • Oversee facilities and grounds maintenance including HVAC, Electrical, snow removal, landscaping, -etc.
  • Establish goals and timelines for implementing Lean changes
  • Provide industrial engineering support to all manufacturing operations through the application of Lean manufacturing / Kaizen principles
  • Lead the company's Lean operating and continuous improvement strategic initiative
  • Establish goals and timelines for implementing Lean changes
  • Provide project management and create team accountability for delivering results on Lean initiatives
  • Develop plant layouts, process flow layout, and set-up procedures while adhering to safety, quality, and productivity procedures and policies
  • Assist with the troubleshooting of processes and equipment and perform root cause analysis
  • Coach functional area leaders on the use of Lean tools such as A3, 5S, DMAIC, and value stream mapping
  • Facilitate workshops to gather input, redesign processes, implement changes, and gain buy-in from process owners
  • Achieve measurable reductions in waste and cost in manufacturing and distribution center operations
  • Partner with third-party experts / Lean Consultants on LIFT (Learning and Improvement Focused Transformation) cycles
  • Develop KPIs and measures to identify opportunities for Lean improvements and gauge results
  • Develop Lean experts throughout the organization
  • Help foster a culture of Lean by demonstrating passion for continuous improvement
  • Conduct time and method studies establishing time standards for manufacturing operations Qualifications of the Director of Maintenance & Engineering:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience Lean leadership
    • Minimum of 5 years off experience implementing Lean in a manufacturing environment(s)
    • Mechanical aptitude and root cause analysis experience
    • Extensive knowledge of Lean / Kaizen principle
    • Lean leadership and change management skills
    • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
    • Excellent coaching and change management skills
    • Strong analytical, statistical, and process management skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint Education Requirements:
