(FMLA ) (EEO ) (EPPA ) Business Development Specialist Reporting to the Manager, Business Development, the Business Development Specialist will work with the Business Development team to assist with due diligence and implementation of strategic business development and fundraising objectives. The Business Development Specialist will work collaboratively with the Clinical Information team to review permission requests. Occasional travel may be required. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Business Development Coordinator on the US and Global commercial permissions process including but not limited to the licensing agreement process, invoicing and coordination of business and clinical review, and approval process for appropriate use of NCCN Content
  • In conjunction with the Clinical Information team, manage the review of specific permission requests with scope-limited clinical content including but not limited to academic requests, direct reproduction of pages from the NCCN Guidelines and archived requests
  • Assist with the NCCN algorithm Flash Card, Pocket Guide, and Guideline copy revenue generation and fulfillment including design of Flash Cards
  • Support the US and Global Business Development teams in the achievement of funding objectives
  • Maintain the Permissions Database in collaboration with the Business Development Coordinator
  • NCCN Contract Management System - Business Development Agreement management, including management of contract tracking for optimal coordination of follow-up
  • Coordinate invoicing process for licensing and permissions and other Business Development activities as assigned
  • Assist in the development of the annual revenue forecast, annual budget, and related supporter tracking sheets related to permissions and licensing
  • Support on-sight meeting logistics for Business Development programs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
    EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business related field or equivalent work experience required
    • 2-3 years Project Management, Program Coordination, Sales, Account Management, non-for-profit, fundraising, and/or Business Development experience
    • Healthcare, pharma/biotech industry, oncology, not-for-profit or equivalent preferred
    • Contracting and permissions experience preferred
    • General medical knowledge and/or knowledge of oncology and clinical practice guidelines/pathways preferred SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Director, NCCN Foundation This position is responsible for all development and fundraising activities of the NCCN Foundation. The Director is responsible for the program, financial, and administrative management of the Foundation. This includes planning, execution, and evaluation of an effective development program that responds to the needs defined by NCCN senior leadership and the Foundation Board of Directors. This position will require occasional overnight travel. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
        • Work with NCCN senior leadership to assure that the Foundation has a long term strategy which achieves its mission and is integrated with and supports the strategic plan of NCCN
        • Develop program, organizational, and financial plans with NCCN leadership to generate support from various NCCN stakeholders. Direct and supervise the operations and staff of the Foundation, including planning and monitoring activities, providing operational and budget support, recording gifts, and acknowledging donors
        • Develop, with NCCN senior leadership and others, detailed gift opportunities suited to the interests of potential corporate and foundation donors
        • Cultivate and establish strategic alliances with other cancer-related organizations and funders that will benefit NCCN and produce new revenue opportunities
        • Oversee the process of research, identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate and foundation donors and donor prospects
        • Propose fundable concepts that support current or projected programs of the Foundation for presentation to all prospects
        • Communicate with constituents and maintain positive working relationships with corporate and corporate foundation leaders, donors, prospective donors, oncology community, patient advocates, Foundation Board members, and NCCN staff
        • Collaborate with NCCN staff to publicize the activities of the Foundation and its programs and goals
        • Collaborate with NCCN staff on the development of appropriate grant applications to corporate foundations
        • Prepare written proposals and/or special materials for use in solicitations
        • Cultivate Foundation Board member involvement in prospect identification, development, and gift solicitation
        • Develop and manage the planning, organization, and implementation of cultivation strategies for selected corporate and foundation donor prospects
        • Determine and recommend appropriate recognition and stewardship plans
        • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in oncology
        • Keep an in-depth knowledge of current trends in development and fundraising
        • Perform other duties as assigned
          EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE:
          • Master's degree or equivalent experience preferred in areas such as business, health care, or related field
          • CFRE certification preferred
          • Previous leadership role in a foundation or fundraising capacity
          • In-depth knowledge of the various aspects, processes, and goals of a broad-based fundraising program including fundraising information sources
          • Minimum of eight to ten years of successful experience in fundraising or related field
          • Strong preference will be given to those candidates that have oncology fundraising experience
          • Experience in grant writing in oncology or healthcare-related organization highly desirable
          • Experience in or knowledge of pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, patient advocacy organizations, and foundations
          • Proven track record in corporate and foundation giving

                                • Develop, author and organize new NCCN Guidelines for Patients for publication on NCCN website and Amazon.com
                                • Create patient-friendly descriptions, explanations, and background information for each patient guideline to supplement content from the professional version of the guideline
                                • Edit, update, format/reformat, and finalize the NCCN Guidelines for Patients to reflect updates to the professional version of the guideline
                                • Create new algorithms, using Adobe InDesign, that accurately reflect the professional algorithm content in a smaller step-by-step treatment guide that is patient-friendly and consistent with the corresponding text
                                • Communicate with appropriate NCCN scientist, coordinator, and panel chair/member to clarify and confirm patient guideline content as needed
                                • Communicate with Patient Advocacy organizations that sponsor and/or endorse the NCCN Guidelines for Patients
                                • Coordinate medical review of patient guideline by appropriate panel member; ensure medical reviews are received in a timely manner; and incorporate reviewers comments/suggestions/changes into patient guidelines
                                • Select appropriate images-photos and medical illustrations-for additional clarification; modify and fuse medical illustrations as needed to correctly reflect accompanying text
                                • Maintain a comprehensive glossary of terms across all patient materials
                                • Proofread all patient guideline material
                                • Attend Guidelines Panel update calls/WebEx/meetings for assigned patient guidelines
                                • Attend bi-weekly update meetings-update team members on status/progress of guidelines being developed or updated

                                                  • Assures that serious adverse events for all studies are reported as required to NCCN, Grantors, and local authorities
                                                  • Assists Clinical Research Manager in monitoring approved studies (quarterly reports, continuing IRB annual reviews, protocol amendments, etc.)
                                                  • Provides financial oversight of assigned projects including distribution of funds to investigators, forecasting payments to investigators, and milestone invoices
                                                  • Responds to inquiries related to studies
                                                  • Coordinates activities related to assigned research projects
                                                    • Assists with planning and facilitating scientific meetings as needed, including budget, slide and agenda development
                                                    • Assists with the preparation and distribution of Requests for Proposals (RFPs)

                                                    • Works on other ORP projects as assigned (i.e. Annual Meeting Poster Session, Investigator Steering Committee)
                                                    • Assists with development, maintenance, and updating of SOPs
                                                    • Travels occasionally as required
