eligible to work in the US. Your Role: We are seeking a Device
Development Engineer III to work at our Bedford MA location to
design, develop, and test novel single-use chromatography devices
suitable for the manufacture of therapeutic biopharmaceuticals,
vaccines, and emerging gene therapies. MilliporeSigma requires an
experienced researcher to execute product development projects
intended for downstream bioprocessing applications. The preferred
candidate will be responsible for projects directed toward the
identification, assessment, and commercialization of new
technologies enabling the cost-effective purification and recovery
of biological products. The preferred candidate may serve as
technical lead of a project team and be responsible for project
assignments and tasks of high complexity. Specific disciplines
required for this role include applied science, engineering, and
device design skills. This individual will apply solid scientific
and engineering principles to (1) design and test prototype
chromatography devices in a collaborative environment, (2) leverage
personal and institutional knowledge to achieve project goals and
timelines, and (3) develop materials, devices, and methods that
achieve cost and performance objectives. This individual is also
expected to contribute to the product and manufacturing process
validation of these products for use in a diverse range of
applications within the biotechnology industry. In this position,
the researcher will interact with a variety of business functions
outside of R&D to develop and refine customer needs and
requirements, support alpha/beta prototype field trials, and assist
in the development and transfer of commercially viable technologies
to manufacturing. Travel up to 10% Who You Are Minimum
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or
chemical engineering • 5 years of experience in product development
• 5 years of experience working in 3D CAD software (Creo,
SolidWorks, etc.). or • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering
or chemical engineering • 3 years of experience in product
development. • 3years of experience and proficient working in 3D
CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks, etc.). Preferred Qualifications: •
5 years of experience with design of experiments (DOE) and
statistical analysis methods • PhD degree. • Advanced knowledge of
and practice in protein separations are considered high-value
assets. • Proficient in design of experiments (DOE) and statistical
analysis methods. • Hands-on problem solver. Capable of conducting
development work in a manufacturing environment. Complies with all
necessary EHS safety regulations. • Plan and conduct research and
development projects to supply new capabilities to meet
MilliporeSigmas future product needs. • Seeks out feedback and
responds appropriately to input from R&D groups and other
organizational functions. Is a team player, demonstrates technical
leadership, and works well with all levels throughout the
organization. • Develop and clearly communicate innovative product
designs, applications, technologies, or concepts to project team
and R&D management as needed. • A sense of urgency and
unwavering resolve to meet project timelines. • Willing to travel
domestically and internationally as needed. • Develop and maintain
broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories through
literature, conferences, and workshops. • Fluent in Microsoft
Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and statistical
analysis software such as Minitab or JMP is a plus. RSRMD Pay Range
for this position: $90,000-$149,200 per year
