exploration.You will be part of a dynamic team designing and
swimming next generation UUVs for both commercial and defense
applications as the lead mechanical engineer. You will be
responsible for the design, integration, manufacturing, and
mechanical testing of hardware and subsystems for UUVs that include
payloads, pressure vessels, internal chassis mounting, and
propulsion systems. The role will include advising projects,
leading small teams, performing design analysis, presenting at
design reviews, and overseeing acceptance testing of the
products.Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this
specific position requires US citizenship status.Required
Education, Experience, & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years of
relevant experience or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
with 6+ years of relevant experience or PhD in Mechanical
Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience
- Active Secret Security Clearance
- A familiarly with the systems design process including
conceptual development, physical design, support to procurement,
assembly, engineering test, debug, integration, and support of
product qualification.
- The candidate should possess a deep understanding of the
following principles that include heat transfer, strength of
materials, materials selection for corrosive salt water
environments, external pressure boundaries, military environmental
(thermal, vibration, shock, EMI), and the ability to apply those
principles to unique mechanical design challenges for the
underwater domain.
- The ability to perform and review Center of Gravity, Center of
Buoyancy, CFD, thermal, and structural analysis using industry
simulation tools (CREO, Solidworks, ANSYS).
- Lead small design teams and the ability to effectively
communicate on behalf of the team.
- Ability to communicate and resolve challenging technical
problems across a multi-disciplinary engineering team to achieve
common goals and implement solutions.
- Candidate shall also be able to work within a broader program
team and or supplier(s) writing Statements of Works (SOW)
- Able to maintain a safe work environment and ensures compliance
with safety objectives and policies and rules that includes open
