Primary Responsibilities The Senior Transportation Hydraulics Senior Engineer/Project Manager is responsible to provide leadership support in project delivery, business development, and growth of HDR's Transportation Hydraulics Group in the Eastern Pennsylvania Region. Primary duties include (1) assisting the Transportation Hydraulics Lead in the development of strategic planning (2) oversight of technical project delivery, (3) profitability, (4) quality control, (5) staff development and morale, and (6) business development and marketing support. The PA/WV Transportation Business Group is active in the aviation, transit, freight rail, highway and local roads, and maritime market sectors. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow the Transportation Hydraulics Group through increasing market share with existing clients and diversification of the client base. The Senior Transportation Hydraulics Senior Engineer/Project Manager will serve as Project Manager/Hydraulics Lead on key projects, and will be administratively responsible for Transportation Hydraulics Group staff and technical service functions, and may lead and coordinate hydraulics services with other business groups within the Eastern PA Region. This leader will participate in recruitment and will train, develop, and manage personnel. The Senior Transportation Hydraulics Senior Engineer/Project Manager will promote HDR through active engagement in professional organizations to increase industry visibility throughout the region. Coordinate with area client managers and marketing staff to identify projects and contract opportunities with existing and new clients and may directly coordinate with national business class leaders to leverage the full resources of HDR to expand service offerings and grow market share. • BSCE is required MSCE preferred.
• Pennsylvania PE license required.
• 12+ years including project/client management and experience related to water resource engineering and permitting for transportation projects with emphasis on highway projects.
• Technical proficiency preparing Hydrologic and Hydraulic analyses and reports, scour investigations, Erosion and Sediment Control Plans and reports, Drainage and Stormwater Management design, waterway and NPDES permitting, quantity & cost estimates, and specifications.
• Expertise in erosion and sediment control criteria, stormwater management regulations and permitting processes in Pennsylvania.
• MicroStation Geopak/InRoads experience; HEC-RAS river modeling experience.
• Successful project leadership experience is required.
• Strong leadership, planning, mentoring skills and staff management experience is required.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with area business class leaders, section managers, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Project experience and existing relationships with PENNDOT and Pennsylvania transportation clients.
• Success in initiating and managing growth.
