How you make a difference

As an Activity Therapist, your primary responsibility will be to provide therapy services to patients under the direction of your site supervisor. This will involve developing and implementing therapeutic activities that help patients with physical, emotional, and cognitive disabilities to improve their overall well-being. Additionally, you will be expected to communicate effectively with both facility staff and company representatives to ensure that therapy services are delivered in a coordinated and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

Provide activity therapy services according to facility policies and recognized standards, under supervisor direction, and ensuring effective collaboration with other staff.

Conduct various types of therapy sessions, including task groups, socialization groups, community meetings, and education/recreational groups, tailored to individual needs.

Monitor and document person served involvement in activities, including regular monitoring of program involvement and condition, and notifying supervisors of significant changes.

Participate in in-service sessions, staff meetings, and treatment team meetings as scheduled, and report person served or departmental issues promptly to supervisors.

Maintain supply inventory and notify supervisors when attention is required, while also seeking additional supervision when necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements


Associate or bachelor's degree in activity therapy, therapeutic recreation, or related field.


Experience providing services to a mentally ill population and/or certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist preferred.

Certification as Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Music Therapist, Art Therapist or related field preferred.


Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) as required by site contract.
